Latest developmentsOctober 2009 Elderflowers has been able to contribute to an important government initiative on housing for older people. Housing our Aging Population: Panel for Innovation [HAPPI]. The Panel comprises a range of academics, housing providers and users. The chair is Lord Richard Best, OBE. The panel's facilitators, architects PTEA, are working in partnership with Levitt Bernstein, specialists in social housing. The HAPPI report will be published at the beginning of December 2009. This wide ranging examination of housing for older people work has been carried out as a follow-up to the Homes & Communities Agency report published last year on housing for older people: Lifetime Housing, Lifetime Communities. It is anticipated that most of the examples of good practice will be non-uk based. September 2009 An application has recently been made to Awards for All for funding the essential market research element of the Elderflowers concept. August 2008 Elderflowers is currently working on its second report, covering the ecological and organisational requirements of an Elderflowers style of development incorporating the latest building codes. It will cover a number of areas including materials and sustainability site requirements, and community links. Elderflowers has already completed its first research report, entitled A New Type of Housing for Active Older People. The executive summary of the report is available in the 'prototype' drop down menu. If you would like a printed copy of the full report, please send your name and address to us with a cheque for £15.00, made out to Elderflowers ProjectsCompany Limited. The pdf version of the report is also available. Elderflowers has entered into discussions with potential partners to develop the Elderflowers model in the Milton Keynes area. A number of suitable sites have been identified. Elderflowers has entered into a partnership agreement with Aragon Housing Association, from Ampthill, Bedfordshire, to develop Elderflowers Projects in the region. Aragon Housing Association has a useful track record of successfully developing accommodation for a wide range of alternative tenures and types of housing. A number of people have applied to the Elderflowers waiting list for accommodation when it is ready.
